Please bag all trash before placing in the trashcans. Not bagging creates a problem and litters our neighborhood when the trash flies out of the trash truck because it is not bagged.

Can I set off fireworks in the city limits? No

Many years ago, the City Council adopted an ordinance prohibiting the sale, use, display, firing, igniting, lighting or discharge of fireworks inside the city limits. The ordinance does have an exception for sparklers, fountains, and all such types of fireworks that are not explosive or noise making in character and are stationary.

The City of Owasso has initiated a Severe Weather Shelter Registration Program.

This free, voluntary program allows residents who own a personal severe weather shelter in the Owasso area to register their shelter with the City of Owasso. Shelter registration is part of our effort to be proactive in response to rescue situations that can occur as a result of severe weather.

This program will provide rescue personnel with valuable time saving location information should a storm shelter exit be blocked by debris or structural damage caused by severe weather.

** Required Registration **

In an effort to reduce the number of false alarms, and to provide better service to the citizens of Owasso, the City Council approved an alarm ordinance and false alarm fee structure on July 5, 2017.

Alarm registration is for monitored alarm systems in residences and businesses within Owasso city limits only. Simple audible alarms which do not dispatch a request for police response are NOT required to register. If police respond to a false alarm at a monitored, non-registered alarm location a failure to register fee will be charged along with a false alarm fee. To ensure your alarm location address is within city limits, please use the GIS Map.

If you have any questions or concerns, email the Alarm Registration Specialist at alarm@cityofowasso.com or call 918-376-1555.

In an effort to minimize unwanted solicitation, the Solicitors Ordinance was amended to include a No Knock List option available to all residents living within the city limits of Owasso. Being added to this list prohibits solicitors from visiting your home. The exception to this rule, however, is non-profit organizations such as schools, churches and youth groups.

For questions, call the City Clerk’s office at 918-376-1502.

Upon registration, your address will be added to the No Knock List. The City requires solicitors to purchase a Solicitor’s License, which includes a criminal background check for every salesperson. The applicant will receive a copy of the No Knock List and is required to carry the license, as well as identification. If you have concerns about a vendor, contact the City Clerk’s office or the Owasso Police Department non-emergency number, 918-272-2244.

If you find a lost/stray animal, you do not have to turn it over to the Owasso Animal Shelter.  You are welcome to hold onto the animal and try to locate the owner yourself. However, you must report the animal to the Owasso Animal Shelter as required by Owasso city ordinance 4-182 Possession of Stray Animals:

“No person shall, without knowledge and consent of the owner, possess for more than twenty-four (24) hours, any animal that he does not own without first reporting such possession to the animal control division, giving his name, address, and telephone number, a true and complete description of the animal, and the circumstances under which the animal came into his possession…” We also recommend posting the animal online on one of the many local Facebook pages for lost/found animals as well as Nextdoor.

To report a lost/found animal, please email the animal shelter. Be sure to include a picture of the animal, the location lost/found, and your contact information.
